FORD POWER STROKE EXHIBIT - CUT AWAY ENGINE & GRAPHICS

The purpose of this exhibit is to show the public why the Power Stroke Diesel Engine is an excellent choice.  The reason that one engine may be superior to another is a bit technical for most of us to understand.  This display explains it in plain English and is backed up with visual examples on a 60" plasma screen to the rear of the exhibit using computer graphic animation.

Central to the display is the Engine which has been cut away to expose the the exchanges and improvements.  The exposures consist of; the gear train (which has been moved to the back), injection system, exhaust intake, the (now 4) valve heads and more.  To engage the attention of the the public to these features, a controlled motion system is used.  The motion system which moves very precisely uses a light rig allowing the lighting to be focused on a specific part of the engine and track it as it is moving.

By controlling the motion of the engine, the lights and coordinating it with the computer graphic animation, interest and attention to the exhibit are held.  People stay and watch the presentation for several minutes, which is quite unusual.  When the presentation is complete, the audience is invited to use the touch-screen, located at the front of the exhibit to learn more about the individual changes and improvements.

The total exhibit area is approximately 140 square feet and is designed to set up in a few hours using union crews.  The entire exhibit fits into specially designed shipping crates that protect it during shipping

A special thank you to the following people for their help on this project:

International Diesel's CAD Engineering Department, Ray Corporation in Tokyo, Exhibit Works Inc., and Gar Dickerson.
